CD – "Today is Mine" by Bill Baxter Page
We are pleased to feature the great music of Bill Baxter Page – our friend, a study partner, and a very talented individual! "Today is Mine" is a journey of self-discovery inspired by a love for diverse music and a desire to perfect his craft, while reaching others with his music.
Bill plays classic Americana style music on top of the line Collings & Taylor guitars. He has a great voice with a smooth delivery and a fine fingerpicking guitar style.
Born in Tennessee, (go big Orange!), the son of a Naval Officer, Bill was raised everywhere from the Panama Canal Zone to Kodiak Island, Alaska – to Annapolis, Maryland. He served in Vietnam, then hosted radio news and sports programs in east Tennessee.
Having 'messed around' on a guitar some years ago, he picked it up again in earnest when he retired from a managerial position at Vanderbilt University. After studying under the late great Pete Huttlinger (2001 National Fingerpicking Champion!), Bill's musical career took off.
Bill divides his time between Granville, Ohio – Nashville, Tennessee – and his cabin in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina.
Bill has transformed several "fan favorite classics" into a pleasing version of a smooth mix of the original with his own rugged style, including:
- Poems, Prayers, and Promises by John Denver
- Desperado by Glenn Frey and Don Henley
- Today is Mine by Jerry R. Hubbard
- Mr. Bojangles by Jerry Jeff Walker
- Remember When by Alan Jackson
- Rainy Day People by Gordon Lightfoot
- Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks, Patrick Alger, and Larry Bastian
- Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine by Tom T. Hall
- Sometimes by Malcolm McKinney - as performed by Jonathan Edwards
- What I've Learned From Dogs by Antsy McClain
Bill has also added a new song, that he wrote himself, called My Pictures on the Wall. We know that you will love this entire collection just like we did!
