Cloisonne items start with a metal sheet which is stamped to create a raised outline of the circles. The recessed areas are then filled with powdery glass-like color resin using the official PMS-299 color and fired in an oven at 1700 degrees. This process and the use of glass resins give each cloisonné key chain a hard, glossy finish that simulates jewel tones.
